Hungary’s accession to the European Union has brought new opportunities and new challenges at the same time for the BorsodChem Group. One of the conditions of competitiveness in Europe requires high-level professional skills, fast and flexible adaptation from our employees. Instead of a one-time effort, it involves continuous training and further training, which fits well to the concept of “Lifelong Learning”.
The fundamental goal of training is to ensure well-prepared professionals required by Company operations.
On the one hand, it can be realised by obtaining and developing competences demanded by the job duties as well as by continuously providing and preparing professional and manager succession for future tasks in line with Company targets.
To ensure this, the training structure focuses on 3 major areas:
As a result of our personnel strategy, almost each of our colleagues engages in some sort of training. In line with organisational demands, the subsidised courses are manifold:
In the frame of educational system training we supported the further studies of 126 employees, 19 of them obtained either university or college degrees in 2008 and 15 were qualified as laboratory technicians.
We support specialist trainings required to fill in the positions in order to ensure the preparedness of our employees as well as their participation at conferences, symposia and professional meetings to facilitate the obtaining of up-to-date knowledge related to amendments.
Skills and capabilities development trainings realised in 2008
In Q4 2008 we are planning to organise skills development training for foremen in the new TDI Plant, with the aim to assist the managerial work of foremen, outlining the tools and methods that support successful and efficient management including its acquisition at skills level.
Language courses
Continually, over 120 of our colleagues attend language courses. In 2008 our employees study foreign language in around 27 language groups from beginner through proficiency exam preparation, but among the courses various technical language (business, technical, IT) courses are also included. The courses are organised in small groups held once or twice a week subject to course type – except employees from Budapest or Gödöllő – at BorsodChem Training Center.
Jointly with BC Ablakprofil Kft. and BC Ongropack Kft.. as a consortium BorsodChem Zrt have made a successful tender for the program entitled The assistance for training programs aimed at developing the entrepreneurial skills and employee adaptability under the Human Resource Development Operative program (HEFOP) announced by the Ministry of employment and Labour. The related support agreement was signed on October 26, 2006.
Over 200 BorsodChem employees participated in the two-year training project, and by the utilisation of the grant various skills and capabilities development trainings as well as English and German language courses were organised.
Skills and capabilities development trainings
The skills and capabilities development courses were held in BorsodChem holiday resort in Miskolc-Tapolca:
The management skills development trainings aim to assist the participants in their leading roles, inform about and help acquire efficient and successful management-supporting tools and methods.
Language courses
In 2006 14 English and 1 German language groups, in 2007 16 English and 1 German language groups were launched with the level of groups ranging from beginner through proficiency exam preparation. The language trainings were held twice a week in small groups in BorsodChem Training Center.
The subsidised trainings fully align to the training structure of BorsodChem, which contributes to the implementation of corporate strategy and objectives in the long run.
We seek to further strengthen human resources development based on BorsodChem objectives in the future as well, which appears in the alignment of company and individual training demands, thus ensuring efficient performance thereby, fast and flexible adaptability to the changing conditions as well as professional and manager succession substantiating the operation of the Company.
